i am 12 weeks post op and I have noticed that I'm getting hungrier and am able to eat more food. Is this normal? When did your appetite come back?

Hi I'm about 12 weeks out as well.

I found that as soon as I wasn't strict with my diet or I didn't get enough water that day I would get my appetite back. How has your water and diet been?

My water has been the hardest part of this whole journey. I certainly do not get enough in!

Hang in there too! At your stage, I was also doing "water checks". When I was hungry, i would ask myself how much water I had had, and if it wasn't a meal or snack time, i would have a glass of water before i allowed myself to eat. Often the hunger passed. If it didn't, then i ate something.

Sounds like you're doing the right things and making good choices. Your restriction will come. Then it will be head hunger you'll deal with. A different struggle!! But you won't be hungry anymore. :)

Water gets easier too. Everything gets easier. Make a conscious effort to sip through the day. All calorie free liquid counts. Water, tea, coffee, flavoured water (zero calorie), etc. I carry my water bottle everywhere I go. Sips add up!!

One of the NUTs at the Ottawa Hospital gave us a trick that may work. If you boil your water and then let it cool, it may be easier for you. Don't know why but it works for some people.

I went through a short period where I was hungry!! I would say 12 weeks sounds about right. Measure, weigh... stay the course. Your restriction and feeling of fullness will kick in soon and all will be well again!!! I couldn't overeat now if I tried!!! I'd be sick! Hang in there. :)

This is absolutely normal. Read Diminishing Dawn's recent post. The threat of regain and stalls is real because of this.
