I'm 5 years post op and had my surgery st mikes. Just got out of surgery at TWH and was told I would follow the same eating as RNY. I'm just curious until I see the doctor tomorrow what the stages/length are again.

Thanks

Hi BluIz,

Stage 1 is full fluids for 2 weeks: protein shakes, strained creamy soups, yogurt with no fruit on the bottom, cottage cheese, cream of wheat and oatmeal. All with less than 10 g of sugar per serving.

Next is puréed food for two weeks. All of the above, plus anything you can throw into a blender and get to a smooth consistency. I would make lots a slow cooker meals and purée them, and soups you don't strain anymore but purée instead.

Soft food is four weeks and it's the food above, but in really small bites... I think this is where you're allowed poached eggs, although it may be in puréed.

Finally, regular foods!

You will get a way more comprehensive guide, but this is a high level overview. Hope it helps. :)

Thank you. It's been over five years since my RNY and just had a section of my small intestine removed so I'm back to reintroducing food as the original surgery. My phone would allow me to copy the full link. I wasn't expecting to go back through the stages so that info will give me a hand with a bit of planning before I get out.

Thanks again.
