I switched to Restoralax
I struggled with constipation and still do being pregnant. I take 2 colace a day and go basically every morning. The odd time i go 2 days without but im
quite regular now. I found before getting pregnant a little bit of caffinated coffee (half a small timmies) worked wonders. I dont use restoralax anymore. Milk of mag helped me too. And of course the dreaded suppositories. I use the walmart brand colace. 100 pills for 4 dlars

Thanks! I didn't realize colace was available over the counter. I got mine by prescription too. That's a good price if I ever have to switch.
I did start having a small coffee every few days... I forgot about that! I think that helps too. I'll keep the milk of mag and suppositories in mind if I ever need them. Hopefully not. ;)

I have IBS - C so yes major constipation issues. I take lax-a-day everyday. About once a month I try a few days without and then cry a ton then back on. I hope this won't be forever.

Awww. Yeah, it can be so painful. I've cried too since surgery. :(
I am so scared to try no Restoralax. I was afraid of transitioning from senokot but thankfully that went smoothly. I also hope I don't need Restoralax for life, but for now, I'll keep taking it.

The only thing that has really been a side effect of this RNY (aside from awesome weight loss) is constipation. I've used Senekot but I find it to be so harsh and almost violent when it hits, I've found myself living with the constipation and dealing with the pain that is my bathroom experience now. I think I'll look for some Restoralax and use it daily, maybe couple it with some colace. I have been resisting taking things because of the whole lazy bowel thing; also, I walk 70 minutes each way to work, and there aren't a whole lot of spots I can duck into to destroy their bathroom on the way. I've got the Senekot thing timed fairly well to avoid commute problems, but I'm concerned if I switch that I might have issues at inopportune times in the day, to put it mildly.

try it in the evening when at home it should produce a bowel movement by morning, or later in the day its not instant and if you're going days on days without a bowel movement it might take a few days or a week maybe longer for it to get into a more daily routine. Good luck, it doesnt cause the cramps its more gentle and like normal without all the issues you get with harsh laxatives. It will keep stools soft and it will produce a bowel movement more regularly
I agree with Northerngal... the Restoralax isn't har****ransitioned from senokot to Restoralax quite easily. I was worried about it cause I had some customer meetings, but I wasn't affected at all.
I take a capful of Restoralax first thing in the morning with 8 oz of water (and a squirt of lemon Mio for taste, cause I don't like the Restoralax taste), and i sometimes have to "go" during the day, but i always have to go when I wake up in the morning.
I also take two colace a day (once in morning and once at night) but I will probably try to transition off those soon.
Best of luck. I hope you find relief soon.

I am 8 months post op and I still put a capful if restoralax in my water every day. I have horrible smelling gas and gross myself out often but no constipation for me. At some point I will weir off but the pharmacist and my dietician said it was safe for long term use.
referral: early June 2016; surgery Feb 21, 2017
I will honestly take horrible gas over the painful constipation any day!!!
I'm glad it's safe and working for you. Hopefully we can both get off it one day. Thanks for sharing. I'll keep my distance if I ever have the pleasure of meeting you. ;)
