I switched to Restoralax
Thanks girl. I know your body gets used to Senokot. I thought I'd read Restoralax is non-habit forming so hoping to hear from people who have real life experience. :)

i have been taking restoralax daily since about 11 months post op i had severe constipation since my surgery 2.5 years post op. as per the advice of the doctor in the emergency room he told me to switch to restoralax it is safe to take 1 or 2 capfuls daily and it will not make your bowel lazy. I also take a high strain probiotic and have been going daily since i started this regime (i open the capsule into a protein shake every morning)
Thanks! I'm sorry to hear your bowels have been uncooperative as well.
Good to know the Restoralax is safe for long term. I'll plan on it for a while.
I also started taking a probiotic about three or four weeks ago... a couple of people here had suggested it when I had my last bad bout of bowel problems. It seems to have a very positive effect. Thanks for mentioning that too! Great info for anyone else reading this, and reminder for me. :)

Doug had bowel issues and you can take restorolax 2 times a day if you need to. He was taking that plus the stool softener twice a day too. He now just uses the stool softener but keep restorolax in the house just in case. I find I eat enough fibre that helps me. I usually eat a grapefruit... or mango daily that seems to keep me going.
Good luck,
Laura

Thanks. Good to hear Doug normalized enough to get off the Restoralax at some point.
I try to eat fibre too. I try to have fruit daily, but I find it difficult to keep fresh fruit around since I live alone and don't grocery shop that frequently. I like the idea of grapefruit so will try adding that to my mix. :)

Yea and grapefruit will last so you don't need to worry about it going bad... I buy the big bag from costco.
Hope it helps... I don't drink tons of water either as I don't like water bit get other fluids in.
We likely won't be at the next meetong... but hope you are doing well.

Thanks! Thankfully none of my meds counteract. Good suggestion re apple and pear too. I tried some apple the other day but I could only have a quarter of it, and it took my over an hour; it is so sweet. Lol. Who would have thought!!! :) I haven't tried pear yet though.
