Question about Humber

My friend just recently had her referral submitted and she was probably sent to Humber but she's not sure. I went through TWH so I don't know a whole lot about Humber. Does anyone know what the timelines are like there? How long from referral until orientation, and then roughly until surgery?

Thanks everyone!

Hi, I have just started the process with Humber. I was referred at the end of July 2017 and I just had my orientation yesterday -Oct 24. They told us yesterday that it will be about 6-8 months until we will be scheduled for surgery.

I was referred by my doctor in May 2016, and attended orientation in August 2016. We were told that there was about a 3-4 month wait to see the surgeon, but I ended up waiting almost 13 months. I tried calling them after the 8 month mark to see if there was an issue, but no one would return the calls. I finally got my GP to re-send the forms they had filled out and suddenly I got a call and an appointment two weeks later. At that point they scheduled my RN/RD/SW visits for about 10 weeks later, in late November.

I've heard of other folks who had a better timeline than me, but I have no idea why. I was absolutely not impressed with the lack of communication - even if they had just said that it was taking longer than expected I would have been satisfied, but instead I heard nothing and had no idea whether something was wrong. But the surgeon seems great and the facilities are nice, and I don't have a whole lot of other options so I'm grinning and bearing it. I just keep reminding myself of how much debt I'm avoiding by going through OHIP and being grateful for that :)
