Low blood pressure

Good morning Sonja,

I'm glad you got yourself checked out. After the second surgery I had really low blood pressure and I jokingly told the nurse that at least it was no longer high. I, too, sometimes get dizzy when I get up too fast, but found that to be the case when I was heavy as well.

Drinking lots, eating your plan at regular intervals, getting up at a regular speed and having your blood pressure taken regularly may help but ultimately you and your doctor knows best.

I'm sorry about your fall. I fainted once when I was pregnant and went down to my knees - only for a moment. It scared my customer so much that he couldn't leave my business fast enough. Got to love those caring, considerate folks!

You're doing great.

Hugs,

Linda

Thanks Linda!

If there was an upside to my fall in front of a large crowd, I had 2 great nurses and 2 very handsome volunteer fireman helping me lol.

My GP did suggest a bit more salt in my diet but other than I have been eating & drinking according to my plan, my husband nicknamed me "Sheldon" due to my OCD diet habits.

Hope all is well your way, hugs to you, take care!

Sonja

Revision on 10/04/16

this seems to be very common post op. my normal blood pressure is now 85/55. Pulse 55. My doctor says drink lots (already at over 80 oz a day) so she told me to up my salt (already a saltaholic). the thing that has worked the best for me is to get up in stages and pump or kick my legs before standing. in the morning i sit up. kick my legs at the side of the bed for a minute...then stand and if no symptoms I walk. I have not had a fainting episode since then.

if I feel the tunnel vision starting I immediately sit down (even on the floor). if in a doorway I grab the door frame and hang my head low and it usually clears....I only need to do those if I've forgotten to leg pump first.

You should see your doctor, I've had similar..and my blood pressure is ridiculously low sometimes...

Nurse said it was normal for me - because our veins are used to pumping MORE blood but that over time things will adjust. Keep your water up - because if I don't drink a at least a 2 litres a day my blood pressure drops as well.

Not sure how many months you're out, but exercising made my dizzy spells worse...my surgeon told me to start exercise (outside of just walking) when my hair started to grow back...which was THIS month...so I started and I don't get the dizzies anymore :)

Lastly - keep up with your vitamins. My dizzy spells have almost gone away and I'm at 7 going on 8 months out.
