Stall still on - 8 weeks and counting....

I do not want to eat more, I think that would be a slippery slope.

I have measured, there has been change but not significant.

I realize my initial loss was extremely dramatic, I am just hoping the body figures itself out soon, looking for hope!

Has anybody else experienced a long stall like this?

I think eating mostly protein shakes at this point is a mistake.
I still have a shake most days, but only 1 (usually my breakfast). The rest of my diet is real food. I agree with your NUT that you need real food. You need to change things up for your body and the variety of different dense proteins from real foods each day should do that.
This is the time when you can learn to eat the way you will for the rest of your life. "I still rarely have more than protein shakes or water" doesn't sound like a way to live. For me personally, if I did this, it wouldn't last long term. I would get frustrated over time.

just my 2cents

Good luck

I find the drinks easy with 12 hour shifts. My Doctor was right to be concerned, I am not give the opportunity to eat properly in my job.

I am lucky to squeeze 15 mins on a day shift, and on night shift a quick nap does more for me than eating ever would.

My days off are a different story and on those days I meet my water requirement, and eat a small meal or protein in the form of egg, chicken or tuna and try to up my protein with high protein yogurt.

I am loozing for hope, has anyone else stalled for this long after an initial dramatic loss?

I had my surgery around the same time as you ...and I have said the same thing so many times - how is it possible that I eat so little and some weeks don't lose at all! I really think your body goes through times that it just holds on to water weight and readjusts...then the scale starts moving again.

Hang in there - it will come off!

I was also stalled for about 6 weeks. Up a pound, down a pound - was driving me crazy. It's very discouraging. This week my weight has started to move again, about 1/2 pound down each day. I haven't changed anything. I'm afraid I am going to jinx it!

Someone had told me that stalls are a good thing - it's your body resetting it's natural max point. It did get me thinking. The weight I stalled at was the same weight I was at for years in my late 20s and 30s. Coincidence? The only time I have ever gained weight as an adult was when I tried to lose weight. No matter what I ate, I'd always hoover around the same weight. Not until I dieted and lost weight, would I then gain it back and more - getting me to a new max point. I am about 35 pounds away from my early 20s weight - again stayed that weight for years until I dieted. I'm curious to see if I hit another long stall then.

I don't know if any of it makes sense. I just know that there is hope - the scale will move again. Hang in there.

I am hanging, right now it is by my fingernails!

It is amazing what avenues our brains will take us as we try to rationalize the lack of scale movement. Set points suck, plain and simple. It is too bad we can not simply tell our bodies what is good for us instead of the other way around.

Glad, you started moving again and ditto that you have not jinxed yourself!

I will hold onto that hope and put the scale away for another month.

My weight has stalled here and there for a week or two but never a long stall; I can see how that would be frustrating.

In the past month my weight loss has slowed dramaticaly; I only lost half a Lb in the past 3 weeks, which is unusual for me. However, 1 went down one clothing size in that time. I have no idea why my clothing size would drop and not my weight, so make sure you're taking your measurements.

At 3 months out I was eating around 550 calories, 60 grams of protein, and under 30 grams of total carbs per day.

am i correct in understanding you have lost no weight at all in 8 weeks? I would increase calories. you are getting a lot of activity for such little calories. sounds counter intuitive, but usually works. I tried to get over 800 calories asap and did most of my losing between 900-1200. But most importantly you are not getting enough water...that is likely stall cause #1...I aimed for 100oz minimum was 64 and that was with no working out. you are seriously risking dehydration with such little water and high activity.

keep in mind that a stall is usually jus****er retention. as long as you keep your fluids up your body will eventually just let go of it. people who start a new workout routine on a stall almost always prolong the stall or even gain because the muscle strain causes water retention while muscle repairs.

I stalled every single month of my weight loss...because stalling is a normal part of weight loss.
