6 Month Update

Linda M.
on 9/21/17 6:27 pm - Orillia, Canada

I can't believe how quickly 6 months have gone by - and I feel fantastic. I'm down 83 lbs., 77 since Opti and 67 since surgery. I got my husband to measure me tonight and boy do measurements matter: Neck down 1.75", Bicep 3", Calf 1.5", Thigh 3", Chest 9", Bust 11", Waist 11.75", and Hips 15.25" - a whopping total of more than 55". I have gone from size 2x and 18/20 now to Medium and size 12. My BMI is down 10 points and in 10 lbs., I will go from obese to overweight. (And who would ever think getting to "overweight" would be something to celebrate? - lol) I'm off all medication, have no joint pain, bruise easily and have bones. And I'm still always cold.

There is some loose skin (inner thighs, lower stomach, and back of the arms), but I'm weight lifting and doing Pilates to strengthen and lengthen. I'm 55, not 25 and am sooooooo okay with it. I was never after perfection, but better health. I have a ways to go, but sticking to the plan with the help from family, friends and mentors and supporters alike on OH and my local support group keeps me on track, focused and teaches me every day.

I have my 6 month appointment on Monday which will include dietary and N.P. I will share, listen, digest and apply what makes sense to my individual journey. What I am doing is working and I know that it will only get more challenging. Learning to use your tool, make healthy choices, and learn from one's mistakes are really the tools we need to succeed. I'm not perfect, won't look perfect, and am perfectly happy.

Thanks for all of your help, encouragement and the odd kick in the butt. Life is good and I am thankful!

Linda

Way to go Linda! Thanks for always sharing your thoughts with us, and being there to cheer us along our own paths!!

By the way, yes inches really do matter (older sister is working on losing weight with diet and exercise, was feeling discouraged about the scale...made her check measurements and sure enough that's where she saw some movement)
