I'm going to Hamilton and am on a group for the bariatric program there and that's what they said to bring. Sounds like you are on full liquids before you leave. Just adding along info that I was told. I'm sure it could vary per individual or program.

The individual programs vary so much. It is amazing!!

I wasn't allowed to shower or shampoo either. I brought dry shampoo, which was a life saver, and used baby wipes, plus washed up at the sink.

I asked my nurse to help me sponge bath. I brought my own soap. It was great. I felt so much better.

perhaps washing hair in a sink if its getting greasy? I only wash my hair once a week anyway to protect my curls but some people like my mom have to wash their hair every day or its a grease bucket as she calls it lol.

In Hamilton, there are no fluids at all until the next day after surgery. (It was 4am for me - then I could have a very small amount of water). The next day after surgery you are on clear fluids only - decaf tea/coffee/ flavoured water/water - no broth at all. The following day they start you on a protein drink. It's not premier protein, but a drink for diabetics. It doesn't have the same protein content as premier and it is really thick. I actually liked it...I'm beginning to hate the premier protein shakes! Hope this helps.

Why, were you not allowed to shower? We only have steri-strips and very small puncture sites that can easily be redressed? Humber has beautiful large walk-in showers, that was the best!
