Looks like no more Opti for me...

I used to drink Diet Coke occasionally (maybe 3 times a week) and would have 1/2 a Splenda in my morning coffee. I quit those when I got back into the program last fall but never had issues in the past. I did read that large amounts could cause a histamine response. I guess that's what's happening.

Ok I did a fitnesspal assessment of the diet vs the shakes and the diet is like 1/3 of the carbs and lower protein and calories! So my question was did anyone ask why they don't give you more food on the diet to compensate for the amount that you get when you have the shakes!

JObear is upset that the protein fast plan is less calories than the Optifast diet. By my calculations it would be under 700 a day. Close to 650 depending on your veggie choices. I don't know the answer but I'm sure there's a good reason. My only concern is keeping up after my son who is hella rambunctious. I'm not sitting at a desk all day and I'm a bit worried about having any energy on that few calories but I'll just have to take it easy. It's only 16 days.

Got it, thanks!

Yes... it's short term. And after surgery it might be hard for a couple of weeks. Now is a good time to start locking in the support you need. I'm not the type of person who asks for help, but I have to tell you, having my sister over shopping, cooking, taking care of me every day has been invaluable. She and my nephew have been around almost 24/7. My sister's partner and his kids have come by. I've had friends pop in.

I've also not answered phone calls cause I'm too tired to talk, said no when someone offered to come over, because I needed to nap.

Find the support YOU need. And change it as you go. This HAS to be your time. :)

Lol Jobear here.. it's actually not really the amount of food that I'm worried about I'm actually worried about being weak.. The hunger goes after a few days because low-carb you're not hungry after you go through headaches and whatever but the energy .. I think I would have to take time off!

Yes, same here. I'm a bit concerned too. Take it really easy I guess.

I'm sorry you had to go off opti, but hey, you get to eat real food! That's great!

My favourite way to cook meat without adding any extra calories is on the BBQ, with various spices added, or even just plain. My second fave is roasted in the oven. Veggies taste great roasted or BBQ'd too. Not bland at all.

Dense protein is very filling, so you shouldn't feel too hungry.

Try to look at the next few weeks as getting food for fuel instead of taste, if that helps.

Good luck!
