Gastric Sleev Done tuesday Aug 22nd, stayed in TWH two days, left on Thursday everything is going good, never saw Dr. Penner after surgery (my wife saw him), but his team came by everyday, the staff were phenominal and so helpful...i am so greatfull for all their work to keep me at ease and painless ...

had some heart pain in the evening, but it was due to the gases in the abdominal cavities, they kept doing blood tests and heart monitoring all night, but all went well, currently no pain and sipping away on water, apple juice and soup/broth (fridge is missing me LOOL)...

I thank all for thier support and thank the fourm members for their encouragement and nice words....

Congratulations on your surgery! It sounds like things are going really well for you and a great loss so far :)

I would recommend you use caution with the apple juice (any juice). Sugar levels can be quite high, and I know TWH recommends we stay away from juice. You may have cir****tances that dictate otherwise - if so, ignore. Are you getting your protein in? I don't notice a protein source in what you have listed.

I am still pre-op (surgery coming this Friday), but I am sure those who are post-op can offer suggestions where I can't...

Wishing you a healthy and speedy recovery :)

Hey Oneatatime,

TWH will give you apple juice on your tray in hospital and cranberry juice... they just ask we dilute it as they want us hydrated. However I have had to send their jello back as it wasn't sugar free...so be aware of food on your tray.

Good luck Friday!! Trust me the journey although tough at times is so worth it!!

It is so good to read so many success stories. As Laura said, I was also given cranberry and apple juice, but only drank the cranberry, diluted about 70% water to 30% juice with lots of ice. It was a treat to sip this once a day for the first week. I had no trouble with temperature (enjoyed hot tea as well), nor with the sugar. It's a weird time in your life where you are gauging your new pouch, your overall health: gas pains, surgery pain, bowel movements, writing everything down, etc. One day at a time for all of it and reach out if you have any questions or just want to share. I had a couple of "down" days where I was tired and felt a bit overwhelmed. Just part of recovery and we are all different.

A shout out to everyone who just had surgery and whose time is coming up. It's a wonderful life, not easy - but certainly great and very worth it.
