Update
Hi Mahalo,
Thanks for your reply and insight. The Internist at the Bariatric Center referred me to an Endocrinologist who specializes in Hyperparathyroidism. Apparently my Vitamin D was on the lower side of normal which effected my Calcium which is related to the parathyroid. I spoke with the receptionist a few hours ago. The specialist (Endocrinologist) was suppose to check my file last Monday, but the receptionist told me that she didn't. She only checks them on Monday, so now I have to wait until this coming Monday and hope that she checks it then. Only then can they give me an appointment to see her (she is the only one in Hamilton that specializes in this). Once I get an appointment (the receptionist told me if could take months) then I can call every Friday to see if there is a cancellation. I got the name and the direct phone number of the receptionist and told her that I would be calling her a lot. She seemed friendly and seemed to understand. This is the best I can do.

Sorry to hear that this specialist appointment is going to takes month, delaying your process.
Have you thought to ask if you could see about getting referred to other places (if you were willing to drive somewhere outside of where you live) that could have a shorter wait time? Sometimes the smaller cities have shorter wait times. My Mom had knee surgery in Woodstock (took a couple months from visit to surgery)...London would have been a year plus perhaps.
Not sure where you live, but wouldn't hurt to ask for more than one referral if it shaved off time.
If not, hopefully it won't be several months.
I know this is disheartening, but if you can try to hold onto that your day will come, and they are doing this to make sure there aren't any unnecessary surprises that could affect your surgery/recovery.

Orientation April 2016 - Final approvals December 2016. Surgical Class January 23, 2017. Met with Dr. Reed February 7, 2017. Opti start date March 1, 2017. Surgery March 15, 2017 (Dr. Foute-Nelong).

Thanks for the suggestion. I will see what happens when I call on Monday and then make a decision for there if I will need to go outside Hamilton to be looked at...actually I don't even know if they let you do that, but it is certainly worth inquiring about. Thanks again.
