Hello everyone!

I did not get a catheter either. They had me empty my bladder before surgery.

I actually got up in recovery & went to the bathroom there. My bladderwort was going to explode.

From a nursing prospective.... They would not introduce a catheter because it puts you at risk for s UTI (urinary tract infection).

Please... for those of you that have not had surgery??? Relax....

They only put catheters in to keep the bladder empty during a pelvic procedure...

I did not have a catheter for surgery. I did however have to have one placed during my overnight because my bladder was not emptying. But they just emptied the bladder, removed it, and it took about 7 hours before my bladder decided to do it's job. LOL

It certainly is not comfortable but it is not something that is routinely done, at least from my experience.
