Got my "Meet the Surgeon" date - Ugh, October

And to be honest, having this board. I honestly don't know what I would do without all of you. The support I get here makes all the difference for me!

So glad you got your date, even though it's a bit further out than you were hoping for.

Don't worry, the time will pass and you'll be amazed by how quickly things speed up once you do see him. I remember how time just dragged and dragged while I was waiting, and then it was like someone put me into warp speed after, lol. It just flies now!

Fingers crossed that you'll get a cancellation.

But for a referral in April 2017, you are doing amazingly well with the timing.

Yes! I have had a lot of luck, and a lot of support, and some persistent effort, to move this through.

I was also able to get through my appointments fairly quickly by calling in for cancellations- until I got to the surgeon appointment and then everything stopped.

I was originally scheduled to see the surgeon last November- and then all the surgeon appointments were cancelled for the rest of the year- and I was rescheduled to January. I was so disappointed. Fortunately, in December they started offering the option to go to Guelph for surgery as Guelph was helping to clear their backlog. I was able to see the surgeon in Guelph in December and had my surgery on January 12. I'm so happy that it worked out for me.

Oh wow, that must have been frustrating. I have read about "that time" at TWH, and I think a number of people accepted the transfer, which really helped speed things up. I'm glad that worked out for you.

The psychologist at TWH did sort of hint to me they were in a backlog situation again. Not sure what's going on. The good news is lots of people are getting this much needed surgery. It will come eventually for me - time will tell when.

The wait can be challenging, especially once you have the final approval. I have no idea what the wait times are for the meet the surgeon appointments in Ottawa. I of course want it to be this week!
