I ran to the post office at shoppers today, and found that they now carry 4 packs of premiere protein. Still only chocolate and vanilla though. But I was excited because I've wanted to try vanilla, but didn't want to commit to a full case at Costco!

would be nice to have choices other than just Costco. Not many Costco's in remote towns etc where I tend to camp. But Shoppers are everywhere.

Oh, that is good news to have the small packs. I am still pre-surgery so it's almost like a sample pack!

Just an fyi about premiere protein and RNY. I learned from others that it contains mostly whey protein concentrate and we are supposed to have whey protein isolate. With the concentrate we can only absorb 50% of the protein. It is still listed as an acceptable protein shake but you will not be getting the amount of protein you think.

I asked the dietician this question and she said this is incorrect. She stated that it is WHEY PROTEIN that we need. The form is irrelevant per her words. They wouldnt reccommend it to us if it wasnt useful for our pouches and bodies

I was essentially told the same by my dietitian in that she said the premier was perfectly fine.

Hi Stephi,

I know my centre allows Premier Protein - there was a sample of one at our group dietitian meeting. Whey protein is encouraged. I understood whey protein isolate to be a lactose free option, which may be very useful post surgery as many people have a difficult time processing lactose (from what I read here). I hadn't heard there is a difference in the absorption, but I have my dietitian appointment coming up in a few weeks, and I'll ask!

Thank you! I did say that Premiere was still listed as an acceptable protein supplement according to Ottawa as well. I just checked my book, though, and it does specify to look for a whey or soy isolate.

Thanks for your reasonable response!

They are more pricey at Shoppers, but a good treat if you want to try them!

I like mixing the Vanilla with a sugar-free Chai syrup!

Thank you so much for telling us! We don't have a Costco here but I live in a border town so have been getting mine at Walmart on the other side. It will be great to have the option to shop here as the currency exchange is awful. Chocolate and vanilla are my favorites, although I do like the caramel too. It's great added to decaf coffee.
