Continue with your oral "helpers" but also help ease things from the other end...use DULCOLAX suppositories as indicated on box, and also insert a couple of times separate from Dulcolax, a GLYCERIN suppository ( just fatty suppository to ease hard stool) So you are easing the path out with suppositories, and yes, drink lots of extra water to moisten stool. Both kinds of suppositories are non-prescription from pharmacy.

Good luck...

I take a magnesium tablet at night and that keeps me from getting constipated.

I take 3-4 senokot pills on weekends (that way I'm not having a bm at work!).

My doctor knows I can't have one during the week and he's ok with me taking them on weekends. It sucks but it's what I have to do now. I always had issues before and have never ever gone daily.

Hello Angela!

You are not alone... It is the only thing that I struggled with. I came here for some much needed advice. It has worked and it has become part of my daily ritual.

Restoralax daily in my morning decaffienated coffee... 200 mg Colace stool softener twice daily.

Make sure you are getting minimally 2-3 litres of water.

If you make this part of your daily routine? I promise you it will work.

The odd time I forget and if I haven't gone and I am uncomfortable. 30-45 ml Milk of Magnesia will clean you right out.

I find that the constipation has been the only challenge during this journey. It can be very frustrating.

Was the RNY worth it ??? Absolutely!!!! No regrets!

Good luck and hang in there!

Sandra

Thanks so much for the advice! I have been taking 2 stool softeners daily, benifiber and smooth tea but I still won't go on my 4-5 day I will take a laxative and it was working but now today I went and bought milk of magnesia and took 60ml, a laxative and everything else and still no results. My stomach is gurgling like mad but nothing is moving. I have pain only in my left side. I'm scared that I may have a blockage higher up because nothing is at the opening (TMI sorry)! My husband is telling me to go to the hospital but I'm not in crazy pain but Why am I not going at all, it's even hard to pass gas!

Is it safe to take restoralax every day because it says not to take longer than 2 weeks? And r u saying to take 4 stool softeners a day 2 in the morning and 2 at night!

Absolutely it is safe! Those warnings on the label are for people who abuse laxatives.

Our situation is different!

Keep taking the MOM until you go! The only problem is that you end up with a bit of diarrhea afterwards.

Once you go, continue doing the Restoralax daily.

I promise you, it will work...

The only problem is if your stool is hard down below? You may have to do a few enemas to completely clean yourself out...

Good luck and keep in touch!

Take care

Sandra

Revision on 10/04/16

My doctor suggested restoralax. It is safe to use long term. I mix in a tbs with my oats in the am and do a tbs in the afternoon in my pudding. Works really well. Be constipated my whole life until this, she suggested my son start it as well as he has the same problem
