4 Week Update

Today ends Stage Two and 6 weeks of liquid (including Opti). Although I went through the program at TWH and had my surgery in Guelph, I decided to follow the Guelph program to the pureed/soft food stage because of the complications and I knew it would take a little longer for my pouch to heal. Keeping in mind the bigger goal, it hasn't been too bad at all. I'm a little tired of creamed soup - although the first taste three weeks ago was delicious. I have lost 16 lbs. since surgery, another 10 lbs. on Opti. I know some have lost more and some less, but to be honest, I am happy with every pound and as long as I know I am doing what I should be doing, I know I am succeeding. This is not magical weight loss. It takes focus, determination and patience. I have learned a lot from the members on this site and sometimes look at past posts on topics and find a lot of information that way as well. I know I have lost inches as clothes are looser - I will measure tonight and take a picture to keep track on a monthly basis. I did hit a plateau (predictable Week 3), but knew that based upon 500 calories and 80 grams of protein a day, I wasn't gaining. I'm taking in a lot of fluid (about 80 oz.) per day of mostly water and herbal tea, am learning to listen to my pouch, haven't thrown up, do not understanding the pleasure of dumping (and hope I won't), and will prepare today for the next stage of eating.

Still a Thankful Traveler who is appreciative of this new chance at improved health.
