I cheated on the Opti, how will I manage after surgery?

I am still preop and have not had to do opti YET but I do have a thought, it won't help with the consistancy but perhaps with the smell. Dab a favorite sent (vanilla extract or your perfume, anything that is nice) just under your nose before drinking. Or try drinking with a straw. Just suggestions, I don't know if they will work or not but worth a try. Good luck

Put it in a cup with a lid and use a straw. That way you won't smell it. The primary function of doing Opti is to shrink your liver to make surgery safer. It is common to have a headache because your body is depleting its glycogen stores (this is part of the process of making your liver smaller), this does get better, and as someone said usually around day 5. You were hungry because you weren't taking in all of the Opti shakes. Struggling with stress and not using food as comfort is something pre-ops and post-ops have to deal with everyday. You are worth it. Don't let a moment of weakness derail you. The benefits are enormous and you will also be so proud of yourself if you turn this around and stick to the plan. Hugs.

Thanks for the info, I was searching the nestle site for info on what it really was doing and if I could use warm water - no info to be found.

The reasons for use are important to me, hugs back!

you can use ho****er. Not boiling, but hot... like the temp that comes from a Keurig machine.

the hospital I went through..... Toronto Western has it as Hot Chocolate recipe in their Opti Fast recipe pages.

I drank 4 a day for 21 days like Hot Chocolate style and lost 22.5 lbs

Having a lidded cup with a straw is still absolutely the way to drink it. Dollarama has perfect double layer thermal cups with lids and straws. Wanted to add a picture of my first opti but for the life of me couldn't figure out how.

I am on my fourth day of Opti. The first shake I made was with cold water and the vanilla Opti. Followed the directions on the package. Found it too thick and didn't like taste.

the second shake was much better. I added some ice and increased the water from 300 to 400 ml. A friend suggested trying a bit of decaf coffee to the shake and it tastes AMAZING!

I have also used pineapple coconut crystal lite and it's good too.

i went to the bulk barn and picked up some lorann oils. Will try some at 4 pm

So I tried the spearmint oil and tasted like a shamrock shake. I also bought raspberry and butterscotch. Will try those tomorrow. They are small vials of oil, you don't much per shake. They were $2.96 each. You can do this! Won't be long now!

I hated the opti. It was disgusting!!!! I could not even choke down the first pouch. I switched to the gnc lean shakes first and then settled on premier protein as the best. It was fine

and my dietician was fine with it.

pb2 powder added to anything makes it taste like peanut butter.

Not sure I could switch out, secondly after outlaying 330 on Opti and 80 on sf syrups I would prefer not to switch.

i was raised not to waste food which is one of my down falls - but strategies like smaller plates and serving leftovers into lunch containers before serving myself are working for me.

i will persevere - thanks for your responses.
