Post-op Water Tips.

Good Morning.

I'm 10 days as of today post-op(RNY). I'm having such an issue with water. I sip all day and I'm only getting the minimum in.

I added grade SF flavoring and it's made it a little better but would really like to up my water intake. I like flavors that taste natural and don't have such a fake, aspartame taste to them and I find crystal light does.

Any tips or tricks for this early on out?

Thanks a million.

Have you tried drinking room temperature water instead of ice cold water?  You could add some lemon or lime to plain water to change it up a bit.  One of my favourite ways to drink water is put a jug in the fridge with some sliced lime and cucumber and fresh mint.  It's refreshing and easy to drink. You could add in some frozen berries to the water to add a more natural flavour to it as well.  Don't forget that drinking herbal tea counts as water as well so if you like those you could drink them warm or often I make some and refrigerate them and drink them cold.  The fruity ones taste great both hot and cold and I like peppermint both hot and cold.

I've been drinking everything at room temperature or warmer just to be on the safe side.

Love lemon water... would I buy lemons or can I use the real lemon juice?

Going to have to venture out today and check out some herbal tea.

I prefer real lemons but I have used Realemon. If you like fruity teas then Celestional Seasonings has a really nice one called fruit sampler. You get four bags of five different flavours. Blueberry and cherry are my two favourites in that box. If you end up liking one or two of them then you can go and buy a twenty box of just one flavour.  Bulk Barn has the best variety of the fruit teas but all stores seem to carry the fruit sampler one. PResidents Choice have some good herbal teas as well and most of their stores carry Stash brand and they have some decaf teas that are more savoury in mature. Davids Tea have tons as well and often they have a sampler pack for sale with a small pouch of various blends.

Great! I will write all of this down when I go out to look.

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it.

I often make a tea latte with chai. The warm spices at this time of year feel good and the added bonus of some protein from the milk is nice.  I wouldn't buy too mu*****ase you don't like but anything is worth trying to help get the fluids in. Stick to flavours you normally like in other things.

In addition to what Tracy said, I also had to switch to a sports bottle. I don't know why, but I can drink sooo much more that way.

I also put herbal tea bags right in my water bottle. You don't need to boil the water first.

it might be worth trying brands other than Chrystal light too. Mio, desani etc. You might find one you like.

a lot of people put a tiny splash of diet cranberry juice in their water too.

Good luc****ep trying!
