For the last week i've been really focused on making the best food choices.  I haven't restricted my quantities (because i'm pre-op) but making food choices like i was post op...and it's working really well for me...except i have head hunger  I am TOTALLY not hungry but i feel like eating!  so question: does this go away after surgery (maybe i feel like this because i CAN eat) and secondary if people get please share how you deal with it...would love to know.

thanks!

I am obviously not post op yet... but I am experiencing some head hunger while on opti.... yeah yeah you don't have to do opti.

You feel like eating because it is a habit we got used to. For me I put on weight because of the habit... I wasn't always hungry when I ate food in the past.

Doug doesn't get hungry post op but yet he knows he should be eating.  So the feeling of hunger does go away for about a year is what I learned at his nutrition meeting at his one month post op follow up meeting.  He also doesn't get that full feeling sometimes until its too late when it becomes painful... so it is really key to measure everything out.  I do for him all the time but at times the dense protein still changes the amount he can eat.  So we have now learned what he should be eating in ounces as well as the cup measuring system.

I agree...and after all this, I think the one thing about using your tool wisely is by not going by a "feeling"...but instead STICKING to the plan.

I'm going to stop thinking about it....:)

Good luck tomorrow a the PREOP!

I am 11 days post op and I have head hunger.  What I have really noticed is how much advertising is causing a lot of it.  I see food commercials everywhere!  I never really paid attention before.   It's easy for me to deal with it right now because I'm scared to eat anything that's not on my plan.   As time goes by, I will need to rely on my determination.

I  noticed this too after starting Opti! Food advertisements are everywhere.. print, TV, radio, online. Can't escape from it!

After surgery I craved salad, like never before. It was due to commercials!

SALAD?  You're blessed!  There could be worse things!  If I were to be so lucky!

It was summer so those were the commercials that were on TV. I cried because I wanted a salad and knew I couldn't even attempt it for a month...lol.

The struggle is real but.it will pass.

IMO head hunger never goes away.  You will have to deal with this post op.  Surgery is on your gut not your brain.  Hate to sound like a broken record but its true!

Over 100 lbs lost! and 13 lbs below goal weight!
