Considering they are prescribed and for medical reasons, can we submit to insurance?  I don't mind paying of course, but why leave money in my ensures hands ?!? :-)  Also, what is a ballpark that I can expect to pay for 2-3 weeks worth?

I am not sure about the insurance part but Opti is $110 per week.

There's no DIN number so likely can't get it covered under prescriptions but some have had success if they had a healthcare spending account.  You could call your insurance and ask if they cover medically supervised diets as that is what it is.

My 3 weeks in Windsor was  $240.

I have sun life and industrial alliance and neither would cover it. I'll put it in at tax time.

Wow, that's a great price!  I had to pay $300 at St. Joe's in Toronto and they asked for cash only.

I submitted to Sunlife just to see but it was declined. I don't have a healthcare spending account.

Mine was $100 for 1 week at Guelph. I could use any payment method but had to buy it there. I was so happy to only have to do 1week.

RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.

77 lbs lost and counting!

Losing the regain! I got this!

I tried with Great West Life, no dice.  They said that they do some Food Replacement items but Optifast it not one of them.  Save the receipt and claim at Tax Time.

If you get a receipt you can write off in taxes. I did Opti years ago and because it was medically supervised you could. You can also write off your km driven to appts and hotel stay and parking.
