I've decided to only share my surgery with my close family members and good friend. It has nothing to do with shame, I've always been a private person and this felt like a very personal decision to share so widely.
@Jo0710, its unfortunate that this acquaintance didn't care for herself. I am not sure if it would have been any different if she went through a bariatric centre as she would have needed to have some initiative and engaged with with the centre's medical team. Whether you're self-pay or through OHIP we need to be our very own best advocates :)
its is a very personal choice - and we all have to do what we feel best - like I said it was a hard decision - but the responses i have received - have been overwhelming - and very encouraging - so glad I did it

Well - I am hoping for RNY - but may end up with VSG.
In Ontario - the gold star standard is RNY - and that is what they intend to do - but if there is any reason why they can't when they go in - they will then try the VSG - due me having the band removed - there may be too much scaring or other damage - so they may not be able to do the RNY or anything for that matter.
I really am not expecting to have no surgery - and to be honest - I am not expecting them not to be able to do RNY - but have to prepare for the worse.
I have the scope done back on Aug - and they said that from looking from inside my stomach -there is absolutely no signs of damage - so my fingers are crossed.
