Hi,

Is the "typical" process through TWH the following:

1 orientation

2 meet with: psych, social worker, nurse, nutritionist

3. Nutritional information meeting

4. Get a surgery date

6. Meet with surgeon

i realize everyone is different, and the steps can be in any order ...

im just confused because after my nurse appt (which I felt went really well) she said "great, so I've gotten your other spots booked and once this is all done you and I will have a phone follow up meeting with me". I'm like "sure great thanks".

But now I'm realizing a second mtg is usually a follow up on something... I just have no idea what.

So I went through TWH and still am, because I am getting a revision from VSG to RNY!!! Typically it goes in this order.
1- Orientation
2- Meet with Social worker, Dietician and Nurse then after those 3 you will get appointments for a nutrition class and one to see a Psychologist or Psychiatrist
As soon as all those appointments are done, you will get a meet the surgeon appointment, and at that appointment they will give you a surgery date and you can submit a form/pay for Optifast.

The nurse might have passed you, but still wants a follow up with you after all appointments are done, which is normal. Don't worry!! as soon as your last appointment is over either go to the front desk/call TWH to book a phone follow-up with the Nurse. If you want, you could always call TWH and leave a message for the Nurse that you had to call you back to confirm. I would!!!

You are right regarding the process.  I also had a phone appointment book as I required a follow-up blood test of my thyroid.  I contacted the nurse practitioner via email who looked at my results, said I was normal and approved to go through and the phone appointment was cancelled.

I find that all appointments are scheduled - whether they be at the hospital, through OTN (telehealth) like most of mine were, or phone appointments.  I would call ask if a phone follow-up appointment is scheduled for you with the nurse practitioner.  If there is nothing scheduled, I wouldn't worry about it.

Best of luck,

Linda
