CLEARED FOR SURGERY
There has been many posts on waiting time at TWH and I know surgery is traditionally 3 to 4 months out. I was just wondering when you are finished your appointments and told you have been cleared by each of the 4 on the team, are you contacted by a surgeon for a consult? Approximately what is the wait time for the next steps.

Orientation: June 29th, 2016, Surgery March 22, 2017. Pre-surgery: 16 lbs, (Size 2x, 18/20), M1: 19 lbs. (Size 1x, 16/18), M2: 13 lbs. (Size 16, XL) M3: 10 lbs. (Size 14/16, large). M4: 6 lbs. Sorry I'm not familiar with the wait time for TWH, but just wanted to say congratulations on being cleared for surgery.

Referral to Guelph Feb/13, Sleep study and all bloodwork and ultrasound May/13, orientation July/13. Nurse, NUT,SW Sept/13, 2nd NUT, nurse and SW, 3rd round and cleared for surgery Dec/13. Pre-op Apr 7/14, Surgeon May 2/14, Opti Jul 3/14, surgery Jul 17/14.

Yesterday was round, so will most likely be reviewed next Thursday, and yup.. about 2 to 3 weeks they will call you with a date to meet the surgeon. That date is usually 1-2 months from the day they call you. TWH has a long waiting list right now, because they used to do 50% of the surgeries there and split the other 50% between East General and St.Mikes hospitals .. now those two other hospitals are not doing surgeries anymore. I dont' know the reason, they just arent!! lol. So after you meet with the surgeon, they will give you a surgery date.. maybe. If they do, it will be 4-5 months from then. I had my meeting with surgeon Dec. 9.. they wouldn't give me a date cause of the back log. Through the grace of God, I did get a call Dec 23, from TWH with a date of Feb 13, for for surgery due to a cancellation. There is hope!!!! So I am going for a revision, from VSG to RNY!!!!

Many thanks. Is that why some patients are going to Guelph for their surgery? How would you put yourself on a list for a cancellation after meeting the surgeon?

I was also cleared for surgery on Jan 4th..and my file went to rounds on the 5th... so I'll let you know when I get my call. I"m not so patiently waiting..lol. I was told that TWH was "caught up" with surgeries... so chances now of going to guelph are slim... but they still couldn't tell me how long of a wait it would be at TWH. So we will see when they call for the appt for the surgeon I guess.
We are on the final stretch... I just gets harder to wait when you are so close.. :)

Congratulations. I would appreciate the update. The closer I get the less patience I have. I'm now so prepared and excited that, like you, I would be happy to continue on to the surgery. The changes I'm making now are getting easier and prepaid me for success. Keep me posted.
