Dietitian Approved

I got exciting news today!

I saw the dietitian/social worker last month, and I wasn't approved by either, but the dietitian just wanted me to work on a small thing, so I had a bit of homework. No follow up, I was to drop it off next month when I see the doctor and social worker, but my sister is in the medical program and she goes every week, so I dropped it off last week and she called me today to say I was approved!!!

So nice! One down, 2 more approvals to go. I was so bummed over that last appointment not getting approved by either one, but now that I found this out I'm so relieved!

Just remember that your turn will come. I still have some work to do, but I'm getting closer to the surgical phase. Can't wait!

You really do have a great attitude...just keep your eyes on the goal, not the past!   I have two more approvals as well!

It took a bit to truly get over that disapointment, but I figure my time will come, may not be on the time table I want to, but in the end it will come.

I know the feeling of wanting to zip through this process, and some seem to do that, but were all different, have different strengths and weakness so I guess my journey is going accordingly. Ups and downs, that's life, still working to roll with the punches, but I'm doing my best will see what happens next month.

Thanks for your post.  I too did not get approved as quickly as I wanted with social worker and dietician but it hasn't slowed things yet.  My last doctor appointment is December 2nd so when the social worker wanted me to see her again and see the psychologist, they were able to get them in good time.  I saw the dietician and social worker and psych again last week - the psych approved me conditional on dietician; dietician wants to see me one more time to make sure I am weighing and measuring and social worker said she would see me one more time if dietician wanted to see me one more time - thankfully, I got appointments with them for December 16th and my final doctor appointment is Dec 20th - so although I was disappointed, at least the appointments have not delayed me.

Now to work on what they wanted and make sure I pass on Dec 16th.  Frankly, I wasn't prepared for all the questions the dietician asked me.  She wanted to know where I was getting the surgery - I said I had no idea because no one talked to me about it yet (I am in Windsor so I can go to Guelph or Toronto) - then she said that both hospitals had different post surgery diets and grilled me about them and what my menu post surgery would be .. I stumbled for sure ....

I did read your earlier post about not getting approved. I sent you a personal email. Not sure if you got it...

Because I grilled the dietitian after my nutrition class and followed up with calling one of the dietitians after, I was pretty clear about what they wanted me to know. But I still stumbled over a couple questions (nerves I thinks lol). I was surprised about them wanting to know what hospital I wanted to go to. because your right not a lot has been brought up about that beforehand. Because it was suggested I look into a VSG, Guelph was recommended over Toronto in it being easier to get a VSG. Will see how that goes, I'm hoping to go for the VSG....and Guelph was always my first pick anyways, unless for some reason it was really behind but even now I think I'll pick Guelph either way.

That's why your doctor appointment follow up is booked so far ahead, so if you need another follow up it shouldn't delay your process too much.

Hopefully will get approved next month. Maybe will be in the same surgical class...
