9 days till surgery. SCARED!!!
You'll do great! I was scared as well. When I got home yesterday I felt like crap. By the time we stopped to get protein shakes and meds it was a long time.
I was so tired and had lots of pain. So if you can get things before and then the only thing would be to get someone to pick up meds, that would really help.
Hang in there and it will be worth it and amazing. It's been 10 years for me. If you'd ever like to chat, message me!

Wisdom.....hmmmmmmmm Well firstly ....You will be just fine. Nervous is normal, just follow your plan, drink lots, keep your eyes on your poop situation, and move as much as you feel you can after surgery. I swear the walking made such a difference in my healing.
I too wanted to know everything ahead of time and wanted to be super prepared........but as I learned really quickly is everyone is different and you will learn as you go!!!! What works for your friend may not work for you. As much as you think you know....you will likely still be panicked and scared for the first little while. Remember these words.... IT GETS EASIER EACH DAY
It's such and individual journey but it's great to have this OH family to talk to if you have a question. I was glued to this forum a year and a half before surgery, and I still am a year and a half later. I look at it at least once a day.

Good morning Eva, you are thinking and feeling exactly like we all did trust me. You would not be human if you were not scared, anxious, worried. I had my surgery 1.5 years ago at St Mikes Dr Grantcharov, I cannot say anything but positive and happy thoughts and memories. The hospital was amazing, the nurses and Dr's were kind and gentle. Bring loose clothes, pjs, a book, your phone, crosswords etc.
I had very little pain some discomfort but that's all. I walked a lot while in the hospital and followed instructions very closely. I stayed for 3 days ( I wanted to have an extra day there) for some reason I was scared of being home!!! Are there challenges...of course; you will go through every day learing what your body needs and wants.
Drink as much water as you can, ginger tea helped. Make some soup before you go into hospital.
Walk walk walk right after surgery, trust me this helps with the bowels and healing.
Good luck and congratulations.
We have a support group that meets once a month at Lawrence/Weston Road. You should come out and hear all the stories and get some amazing advice.
