Surgery date

To be honest, the surgery was the easy part. I too had mine at HRRH. Very beautiful hospital. My advice is to walk while on the pain med school and fart as soon as you can and as much as you can. I woke up from a nap and felt like I was going to explode. The pain meds helped.

As for after surgery, it's a lot of just listening to your body and relaxing. I was so stressed because there was no way I could get in all they were asking me too. I felt like I was putting something in my mouth at every waking moment. I still don't drink protein shakes. They make me ill. I did buy some frozen fruit and I will try that over the weekend.

The weight will fall off and then slow down, all normal. I personally don't own a scale, for my own sanity. I'll find out how much more I lost when I see Dr.Klein next week. I do know that all of my pants are falling off of me so I'll take it.

So again, just relax and the rest will fall into place.

A little tip with the optifast, I stopped using the flavorings just cause they were so sweet. I liked the chocolate more. I only drank 3 a day (not telling you to do that) but I did take advantage of the vegetables we were allowed to have. I'm not a breakfast person so I started my shakes at lunch and drank 2 of them. I mixed a chocolate and a vanilla shake with a bit less water than they asked and added extra ice and blended it in my bullet. It tasted like a Wendy's frosty. I liked that. Just an idea for you. Get past the first few days and.they rest will fly by.

Thanks for the great info. when were you discharged from the hospital? How long were you off work? I work from home and a very flexible schedule, I wonder how long I should be off work

I'm hard to go by. I had my gallbladder removed.at the same time of my RNY. There were complications with the gallbladder surgery (that I am still dealing with), so I was in the hospital longer. I was operated on Wednesday and discharged on Saturday. Most people are discharged the next day as long as you are handling your food ok.

As for work, I'm a school bus driver so I was off for the summer. If I didn't have these ongoing issues with my liver, I could have.gone back to work by the end of the 4 weeks. You will feel great but listen when they say don't do any heavy lifting for 3 months. I am back to work now but I'm still missing quite a bitime of time cause all the Dr appointments with my liver.

You can talk it over with your.surgeon at your 2 week appointment but if you can take the rest for as long as.you can. It's a bit of work the first month with learning how and what you can eat.
