does anyone know how they calculate the excess weight precentages?  Also does anyone know how to figure out how much of our excess weight(in precentages) we've lost so far?

Take your top weight and subtract your goal weight. That is your excess weight.

Take the number of pounds you lost and divide it by the the excess weight you calculated above. Multiply by 100. That's the percentage of excess weight lost.

If you lost 50 lbs and had 100 lbs to lose, then you've lost 50% of your excess weight.

50% by the six month mark is about average so it sounds like you are doing well. Keep it up!!

if you are looking to find this out - in terms of what they tell you - meaning you will lose 75-85% of your excess body weight - they actually use what your ideal weight should be at a BMI of 25 - not what your goal weight is

I think you're doing great!!!

Don't forget to  focus on all that you have accomplished and how you're feeling.  What improvements have you seen in your overall health and energy levels? If you hit a stall or a rough patch, focusing on these things will pull you through.

RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.

Look at the top of the page here, you will see a link for resources, click on that then click on post op planner.  Put in the percentage of excess weight that you want to lose.  It will plan out how long that will take.  Hope this helps.
