Hi Jen,

My mom actually got me hooked on it. It's pretty simple - 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 scoop protein powder quickly blended (she uses her ninja blender and it does a great job). Then she adds some sf torani syrup and 7 ice cubes then blends until the ice is just fine so it comes out like a soft serve consistency. It is so good and with 1% milk and the Costco protein powder it's only about 100 calories for a huge cup of it. And hardly any sugar :)

Good morning everyone.  Zizz good to see you on the thread again.  Maybe posting will help keep you accountable and besides we missed you.

Today I am mostly staying home and trying to get things done around the house.  The weather is so much more comfortable now.  Maybe I'll spend a little time in the garden.

Today it's lots of protein and low carb throughout the day.  I have added in a half of an avocado for some healthy fat.

Zizz maybe it's time to give up the demon Coke.  That would be a trigger for me for sure.   Haven't had one in over 2 years because of that.  But you know me pretty well and you know I have transferred my addiction to coffee, lol.

Did not have any soft drinks for over 2 years but it was soo easy to fall off the wagon and then have it become a regular routtine.  I agree with everyone, I think it does trigger cravings, plus the caffeine.  It's Coke Zero btw, anyone else have this pr oblem?  I drink Coke Zero, justifying the decision by the fact that it is zero calories carbs etc, but has caffeine and sweetness that can cause problems.  I missed you guys too and intend to post more now that things are less hectic with school.

Coke Zero is known as crack to those of us that tried it.  I got to the point where one can turned into two into three, etc.  I craved it so bad and I wanted to drink it instead of anything else and of course I justified that it was zero calories so it was fine but be aware that it has a lot of potassium in it from the sweetener and your potassium and sodium levels can go through the roof.  It made me crave sweets and I am not a dessert person so I stopped drinking it completely.  I drink club soda with a twist of lemon or lime when I want something other than regular water.  I don't believe carbonation is bad for us but more the type of carbonated drink we choose to drink.  It's well known that SF items make us crave more and more so I just avoid SF and have real sugar now instead.  I stopped using all artificial sweeteners a few years ago and dropped like 6 pounds in a week from getting rid of all the crap it leaves behind.  I don't worry about the caffeine since I drink tons of black coffee and only decaf after 3pm so I get in lots of fully leaded before 3 pm.  I know a man who was diabetic so traded in his coke habit for a coke zero one then his potassium and sodium spiked off the charts so it might be okay in moderation if  you can have a bit here and there but even one per day is too much in my opinion.

^^^^^ This

Like Tracey, I don't think carbonation is an issue post op a year or so.  I like sparkling water in a wine glass with ice.

Once or twice a month I have a diet ginger ale if I am feeling nauseous.

Watch the sugary diet drinks.  Also the koolade you like.  All can create cravings.

Look, it's tough , you have to be tougher

Tracey, I just realized I replied to you on this post.  Not going to retype.

Thanks Birdiegirl.  I am learning but the sf drinks are a huge challenge.  I like your diet ginger ale idea, going to monitor the effect of koolaid, always suspicious when I am super duper loving something,  there is probably a reason like its triggering cravings etc.  No afternoon Coke Zero yesterday, was super tired but pushed through.  Thanks for the pep talk, appreciate it!

Thanks Tracy, got through the day without a Coke Zero yesterday but boy did I want one.  Totally agree it is like crack!  I do take in a lot of sf stuff, but it seems the Coke Zeros o is super addictive!

Good morning Zizzler. Welcome back. It seems like I am always battling the extra pounds.

I do not usually eat muffins because of the carb and especially the sugar. This one is low sugar but uses a banana. I am using for a way to take meds during the day. I will see if it works. I will make some small ones just for this.

I had promised to take someone from our church and my daughter to a wool sale. I took the day off even though I have few days left. One waited until 7:30 last night to tell me she was swamped at work and couldn't go. My daughter let me know she had just worked a 12 hour day and intended to sleep until noon. So I am at work and may or may not take some time off this afternoon.
