H pylori
I had two years of testing positive and 3 breath tests before given the green light to proceed. Do you have the antibiotics for 10 days or more?
Keep on top of the problem and best of luck for a speedy recovery.

I have antibiotics for 7 days then I'm supposed to have a breath test.
i really hope it doesn't take as long as it did for you. The antibiotics are expensive.
hope it clears up when I have my trio appointment and they do blood work.
Thanks for the information , how often did you get tested during th two years.
So when you go for your breath test after 7 days of antibiotics...you will be asked to pay for breath test. Not covered by OHIP. Depending on the lab the cost is $80 to $100.
I was really a very special case and that is why it took two years to finally convince a Dr. that I no longer had Hpylori. I was breath tested every 6 months over the two years (finally after the 4th breath test I no longer had the bug) but every blood test showed H-pylori positive at HRRH. Finally Dr Hagan explained to me that I really did not have it anymore just like the breath test results. That for the rest of my life my blood work will show H-pylori positive. This is much the same as measles always showing positive for your whole life in a blood test. That is why I really really stress the breath test and after those results come in negative, have this report put into your files so the hospital doesnt send you on wild goose chase. Seriously
When you have your blood work done after your trio appt. Tell the nurse that you were tested positive for H-pylori but took the anti biotics and you will only have results for H-pylori from a breath test not blood test. Tell her to put this info in the file.
As soon as the Dr. lets you know that H-pylori is no longer present. Tell him to place this in the report and not to rely on blood tests.
You will be fine. You just have to be diligent in making sure the right person files the correct information on your files.

I had to take 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening per day.
like you I have major stomach pains and I'm really bloated 5 lbs weight gain( not impressed with that)
so much for not drinking while eating, I've been trying to incorporate that but since I have to take meds with food....
just thankful tomorrow morning is my last dose.
Hope I never have to this again
Blood test will always test positive. I tested positive & took the antibiotics the did the breath test and it was negative. I am going through TWH and my NP told me that is the breath test is done at a hospital it is covered, she booked me at TGH and it was covered. If you go to a private lab the cost would have been $80.00 - $100.00.
