omy goodness. I thought I could try pureed potatoes on my puree week. Omy ow ow ow "NO". I feel it. Right in the middle of my chest. Pain, fullness. The potatoes were watery like applesauce, though. So I dont understand. But it didnt feel good at all.

Why is it that I can sip on water inbetween bites and have no issues? I love my water at meals, so I've tried it and had no problems. Anyone else find this?

You don't want to be flushing  the food out of your pouch with liquiids......it moves fast enough as it is. It makes you hungry faster as time goes on.  I find that rule is the one that is the most difficult in RNY.  Especially in restaurants.

Drinking while eating they claim is one of the biggest culprits in weight regain in the maintenance phase according to a study I read.

I am guessing these are powdered potatoes and they irrigated your still healing stomach.

Sipping between bites will not cause pain.  It will allow you to eat more food and make it leave your stomach quicker.  It is a good way to slow down weight loss because you will be hungry faster and eat more often.

Hmm. I didnt think of water flushing food out too fast. And that id eat more. I certainly dont want that.

Its so hard for me not to sip while I eat. I guess I might have to drink before and after my meals. I do not want regain. Potatoes are going to be put away for awhile. Maybe when I'm on soft foods. I certainly didnt like that feeling.

Aall your doing is pushing the food out of your pouch. No drinking with food! If you must in order to swallow have a small sip. At this early stage it is really important to follow the rules of no fluds 30 min before and after.

You will find that your pouch gets grouchy with certain foods. If you can eat potatoes it is a good thing. As you progress your diet you will find many things may not agree. That's ok. Leave it for a few days then try again. Slowly introduce new things. Remember protein first always

For sure no drinking while eating. I have a little timer I set so I know when its been 30 minutes and I can start drinking again.

Were they plain potatoes or did they have milk or butter added? I had some instant mashed potatoes that were made with a little amount of milk but no butter. I pureed chicken in chicken broth and mixed it into the potatoes so everything was really moist. Also check how fast and how much you are eating. I've found my ouchy tummy problems are either from eating too much at once or not waiting 5 minutes between bites.
