Four Years Out
Well, June 25 is rolling around again. My four year "surgiversary"
Its been 4 years of ups and downs but I've never regretted my decision. Haven't even come close. 130+ pounds down and maintaining for nearly four years. I used to be a size 26. Now I'm a size 10-12 (I'm 5'8").
The last year has been the most difficult of my life and I did gain back about 5-10 lbs but I'm very happy that I got a handle on my habits and have since lost that regain. Things are still hard and I'm always scared of regain. It's a constant battle but some days are easier than others. It is tough to look at old photos of myself but I want newbies to see what's possible. The updated photos below are both from last week.
In the last two months alone, I competed in a dragonboat race, trained for and ran a 5k, signed up for a 10k and did the YMCA spinning charity event. I'm painting my house this summer and gardening. I walk my dog every day. I do everything comfortably, without pain. I'm not exhausted. None of this would be possible without WLS.
Cheers to those out there actually working hard at this, whether its educating yourself pre-op or staying on track post-op. It's not easy but it's worth it. Hang in there.
Very inspiring! Thanks for posting about your success so us newbies don't get discouraged!
Wonderful post. You look amazing, you eyes are bigger and brighter and your smile in the last pic says it all. Congratulations on all of your hard work.
