Question for TWH people

When I went to TWH for my orientation I was given my Social Worker, Nurse Practitioner and Nutrition Class appointments.

My Social worker appointment is next week, and the Nurse is on July 6th but my nutrition class is not until September 7th. Will I have to wait to schedule my next appointments until after the nutrition class, or will they let me book them as soon as the SW and NP appointments are done? I realize they may not happen until after the nutrition class, but I really would like to not have to wait until September to start booking my other appointments.

Also - what's left?  Dietition, Psychiatrist.... anything else before I get to see the surgeon?

I know there are no guarantees; I'm just confused. Another person I know has had her Psych eval already but not the Social Worker or Nurse Practitioner and we had orientation on the same day.

It will take about a year to work through the appointments. They will give you the next set pretty much when you are done those.  There does seem to be any rhyme or reason to the order of the appointments.

You can see my siggy for my journey so far.  I meet with the surgeon at the end of next month.

I have to agree there is no rhyme or reason to the appointments ... they seem to just fit you in when slots are available, remember to call regarding to see if there are any cancellations. You can refer to my signature as well to see when my appointments were scheduled.  From the time of my orientation to the day of my surgery it was a 1 year and 9 days, at first it seemed like a looooong time but near the end it came very quickly.  All the best

I'm at Windsor but when I saw the social worker I was told they decide if you need to see a psychologist. I was very honest with what I told her when she asked questions about depression and if I ever tried to commit sucide etc I told her about when I was younger and did these things. she asked how I felt now and such and told me she didn't see the need for me to see a psychologist and not everyone has to. so maybe it's just some? also after I had my nut class they told me it was 6-8 weeks to see the dietician, I still have 4 more weeks until my appointment with them. unsure if this helps at all because it's a different centre but maybe gives you an idea?

When you go to see sw ask if you can book next appointments. You will need to see Dietician and psychologist or psychiatrist. After all these are done your file will go to rounds the following week then you get call to see surgeon then or date. Depending on each appointment you may have to see one a second time.

Took 8 months from orientation to surgery. If you don't mind oone appointment at a time you can usually get in a little faster.

Ii allways leave with my next apppointments iin hand. Even for annual. I made my oct 2016 appointments in oct 2015.

Thanks Leslie- I'd love to have my surgery before the end of the year and I don't mind doing them 1 at a time. I've been calling for cancellations and I was able to move up the dates for my orientation and my nurse practitioner appointment.

Seems to definitely take longer at TWH, but not a bad thing.  I think the time to mentally prepare has been good.

I was referred in April 2015 and am having my surgery in July 2016, so a year and 3 months.  Most people it seems to be just under or just over a year.  There definitely isn't any rhyme or reason to the appointments, just who has time.  The nutritionist and nutrition classes seem to be the ones that are hardest to get for some reason.

My referral was in February.... so if  I go by that date, I'm already 4.5 months in. :)

What I've found from reading posts is that Humber tends to be much slower to get the ball rolling, but once it starts, it's extremely quick. Wheras TWH tends to be more of a steady pace.
