Referral done but confused about next steps

I've been following this forum for years and since making the decision to go for it, I've been following those who are or who have had it done in Ottawa. So on April 22 I saw my GP who said he would put my name in a portal. I guess based on what I've read on the site I thought I'd be getting a call from th Ottawa hospital to schedule for the orientation. Instead I got a call almost 2 months since my referral to go back to my doctor on the 22nd of June next Wednesday, to fill out a questioner. This is a package he received requires that he and I fill out this questioner to determine what tests I will need prior to surgery. Sorry if this is long winded but is this how it's supposed to roll? Once we fill out the forms and send them in is it long after for the orientation? Thanks in advance.
Once referral is completed you will get a notice for orientation. This can take weeks to many months. Each centre runs a little differently but core appointments are the same. Nurse practioner, Dietician, nutrition class, social worker, psychologist/psychiatrist, surgeon. Depending on history may have to repeat one or more appointments. Once you see everyone they review file to decide if ready then you get OR date.
One thing we all learned through this journey is patience. It is not a fast process. Expect a 1-2 yr wait. Some fly through others it takes longer. No real reason just depends who is booking appointments. Use the time to find a wls support group really helps to prepare. Make positive food choices. They will look for that. Try to exercise.
I'm 4.5 yr out and no regrets
