Hi folks, I'm 2.5 weeks post op (RNY at HRRH) and cannot tolerate the shakes. I spoke to the dietician yesterday and she said the protein powder I'm using from bulk barn isn't very good and I should try something with a higher protein amount per serving.

Im planning a trip to GNC this weekend but would love to hear from folks *****ly on protein powder - what are you using? Recommend any flavours? Brands? Etc.

Any info would be appreciated!!

thanks!

Nikki

You can get the GNC Total Lean Vanilla ready to drink, add ice and decaf coffee crystals and make an iced coffee.

I have heard SixStar (which you can get at Walmart) is good and there are lots of selections that people like at Costco too.  If you search in this forum I know there are lots of comments about which ones people like.  I would suspect that GNC might be kinda expensive.

That sounds good, thank you. It's the thick milkiness of the shakes that I don't like (and the smell) so hopefully this will be better! I'll pick some up at GNC tomorrow!!

I do have the same problem, so I went with REVOLUTION SPLASH from GNC, it is very good taste like juice Im adding more water because it is really sweet.

With protein powder (the milky one) Im adding lots of ice cold water and a tbsp of PB2 to kill the smell and that sweet taste.  Drinking from shaking bottle so I don't feel the smell.

What is it about the bulk barn powder they don't think is good? I've been using that and when I break it down 30 grams of unflavored protein powder from bulk barn has 28 grams of protein and 0 carbs. The splash is 35 grams for one scoop and has 24 grams of protein and 6 grams of carbs. How many grams of protein per serving do they want you to look for?

My only issue with the bulk barn stuff is it doesn't mix well in water so I'm starting to put it in applesauce instead.

I use presidents choice protein and add to soups and other foods. GNC also has a protein water. It's sweet but dilute  with water.
