Home!
Hi All :)
Back from TWH! Surgery went well. Recovery was more or less smooth.
I had an issue with a nurse bypassing the IV machine and giving me my morphine directly, which caused a burning feeling along my arm, and totally doped me out. I mean like, I couldn't even finish a sentence. This also caused so much dizziness I had a panic attack and felt like I couldn't breath and then I had to do breathing exercises the rest of the time I was there. I mentioned it to a different nurse later on and I think they took a report or something because a lot of managers kept coming in and asking me questions about the incident. Because of this I lost a whole day of walking.
Also twice they brought me food I wasn't supposed to have but I'm not hungry so I just worked on my fluids and feel fine. I've had some cottage cheese and unsweet applesauce since I've been home. only maybe 2 teaspoons of each. I can't believe I'm not even a little bit hungry! I am however super thirsty and its hard not to guzzle down some water and only take sips!
Pro tip - Ice water - just don't lol. It was too cold and so far is the only thing I've had that I knew when it hit my pouch.
So overall my surgery was great, recovery was fairly smooth, no complications. I think the poor nurses at TWH are sorely overworked.
I thought somehow I would feel way more different then I do. I don't really know what I was expecting but I feel just like me before surgery only sore and with stitches and gas lol.
Yay! Glad you're home! I felt like I was stalking you because I kept coming back to check if you had posted. I'm at TWH on Monday for my surgery, so I was curious about your experience. Glad to hear things went smoothly.... Umm... Except for getting directly injected with morphine (!!!?) how many nights were you there?
I was there 2 nights. Somehow I ended up with a private room - let me know if you do too. I didn't request one so I'm wondering if its a bariatric patient thing or if I just got lucky :)
