Where did you get referred to?  Some hospitals are faster than others.

I am getting close to the end of my wait, I still want to read everything out there!!  Though I am glad of the wait, it helped me really get comfortable with the idea.  This is a big forever change, it shouldn't be done too quickly.  Some people (not you.. just saying) seem to think this will be an easy thing.

See if there is a support group in your area.  There is nothing like having a chat face to face with a group of people who have been there and done that!

Good luck.  The time will start to fly.

I hear you!!! And even though my head knows that a year isn't that long, it almost makes me want to cry to think that I may not have my surgery until next April. I do know people who were able to have their surgery in 7-8 months from orientation, so i'm really hoping I will be that lucky.  And when I think about it- my orientation was in April, and now it's June - so already 2 months in.

By the way- I first signed up for this website in 2006! Completely forgot I'd done that. I do remember thinking very hard about WLS when I was pregnant with my youngest in 2004. In 2009, I was able to lose 60 lbs, and really thought I had this whole obesity thing under control... however - as soon as I hit 220, I hit a plateau and got discouraged. The weight crept back up.  When I hit 270 in 2013, I gave Paleo a try and again lost that 50 lbs.  Once again, at 220 the dreaded plateau, and I threw in the towel. Now my weight is at 293 lbs!! UGH. it was last winter that WLS started to cross my mind again, so in February I talked to my family dr.  He referred me right away, and here I am.

Anyway, at least we can all wait together and drive one another nuts. :):)

RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
