Seriously?

how did you all put up with this waiting?!

im only at the referral stage (done 17 days ago and coin counting lol!) and I'm going nuts lmao!!

Seriously though, patience tips? I find I'm just in sort of a "waiting mode".  It's hard to focus on anything at all - all I want to do is read gastric bypass articles, reviews and testimonies. I can't live this way for the next year +!

and then the worry they will say no ?

Went to the mall with my daughter yesterday to try to just get my brain out of the hamster wheel and all I could think of was the beautiful clothes I might be able t wear and how salespeople might smile at me when I walk in instead of right away knowing I won't be buying anything.... And why didn't my GP offer this as an option 2 years ago and and and..

help??

Time flies - trust me.  I have only 2 appointments left and I referral was July 2016.  It gives you a year to adapt good habits and to really think about the WLS.  Your life will be totally different.

I understand what you are going through! I've only had the Orientation in April done thus far. The first few weeks after my Orientation I was obsessed with researching information about it, and all I could talk about.

It is a huge step once you decide to look into doing the surgery.  I get wanting to fast forward through the process, but in the end I think it will be a good thing to pace ourselves through this process.

I'm trying to temper my expectations of how fast or slow I will go through this process. Won't do a lot of good, thinking about it 100 percent of the time, but I sure do get it.

Try to relax and focus on other things, and realize your time will come too.

Oh the waiting. :-) i was referred in Feb 2015 had my orientation April 2015 and am now at the stage of meeting the surgeon on July 22 2016 so yes the process is rather long but it truly does fly by quite quickly. This waiting period gives us time to go through a much needed time to adapt new coping skills and learn to make better choices that is going to help with our new healthier life style we are choosing. As to why your GP never offered you this option before now I honestly don't know. My GP never offered it to me I brought up the subject and she told me that she was waiting for me to bring it up. She says that once I did she knew I was ready to finally do something about making changes to a healthier life. She did often bring up my weight and discussed other options of weight loss. She is now very supportive and very helpful with preparing me for what was expected such as ordered all the tests I would need like the sleep study, blood work etc even before I received the paper work to fill out once the referral was completed. All I can tell you is yes you will have times all you can think about is getting the WLS and then once you start with the appointment time will really fly.

Best of luck. Just remember all good things are worth waiting on.:-)

I certainly remember feeling the way you do. But as someone said it does fly by and before you know it, it will be your time. Use this time to educate yourself, practice good eating habits, ask questions and just think of all the things you will be able to do that you can not do now.

It is an amazing tool to have. Be proud of yourself for making this change in your life. Your time will come ...keep smiling.

The waiting is a drag. My referral was Oct 2014.  Ordination March 2015 I think meet the surgeon was October 2015 Trio was end of Nov 2015 Dr glazer Jan 2016  see Dr Klein again Marxh 2016 and surgery April 13 2016.

I was convinced they forgot about me or lost my paperwork     I could not  imagine it would take this long but now that the surgey is over., the time was good for me!  Because I was waffling

try to make as many changes as you can before hand because it's not an easy journey

Thanks to all *****plied - i really appreciate it :)

I stopped drinking soda a couple of years ago (except for the odd ginger ale here and there).  Very very rarely have alcohol anymore and even then it's one glass of wine like maybe 1-2 year? I stopped smoking almost 3 months ago.. All before I knew about gastric bypass being an option for me - I just did it because it was time to do it.

Once my GP suggested it might be time to look into WLS I made some other decisions:

My GP booked a sleep study for me first week Of July and I'm working with my dentist to get some dental issues fixed asap so chewing won't be an issue anymore.

what else can I do to keep "preparing myself" for what could be like pre and post op if it ever happens?

thanks again !

I felt and the same way last year and still feel the same as my surgery day approches , but it did go by fast , I just keep focused and tried to keep as busy as possible !!! And I can so relate to the whole shopping and day dreaming about all the beautiful clothes that you'll get the chance to experience one day ... I haven't boughten myself one piece of clothes since deciding to go ahead with wls.. I'm living off 3 pairs of yoga style pants (2 have holes) and 2 t shirts .. Lol it's safe to say that I do a lot of laundry lol soon enough I'll be buying all kinds of clothing items ! Can't wait!!!
