Good morning everyone. My grandmother died Sunday night so I am off for the next while on bereavement leave. To be honest we were not close so it is not effecting me much, but it is effecting some of my family and it will be nice to have time to attend her funeral and other family stuff that will com up. Had my first kiss in 8 years last night, honestly I felt like I was 15 and never been kissed. lol It was awkward but not unpleasant. What do you guys think, would you tell a guy that you have not been with anyone in 8 years? I think they would kind of freak out or think I am weird? On the other hand maybe they should know so they understand why I need to take things slower. Today I plan to do yard work, cleaning, gym and hot yoga, and I have a lecture tonight so I will be attending that.

Zizzler you are way overthinking every part of this dating thing. No you don't need to tell anyone you haven't been with anyone in 8 years. Why would you tell them, would you tell them if it had been 8 hours or 8 days? No so who cares if it's been 8 years. Trust me, you don't forget how to do things and first kisses are often awkward even if you had just kissed someone else a week earlier. It's all new every time and it's always awkward at first so lower your expectations and stop being critical of yourself, and just enjoy yourself. If you decide to have sex, it won't be mind blowing either as the first of everything is always awkward. You don't know what he likes and he doesn't know what you like and the sex only gets better the longer you are with someone. He won't have a clue if you've gone 8 years or 8 minutes. He will be just as nervous and insecure about the first of everything that is to come with someone new. Relax, stop analyzing everything and just enjoy. Many women that are serial daters still want to take things slow so I don't think even that is a red flag that you haven't been with anyone. It's not like everyone jumps in the sack on the first date.
I hear what you are saying and it makes sense. I do not want to be online dating forever so I guess I am overthinking stuff, good point. I feel like just stopping the online dating, it is just so draining. I could be spending my energy on real things rather than daydreaming over stupid men who probably don't give a rats ass about me anyways. Maybe its time to take a little break.

I wouldn't give up this fast. You seem to want to meet someone but it may not happen overnight. Maybe change how you online date. Not sure how much you talk online or on the phone before you meet in person but even changing things up a bit might be helpful. I actually met my husband online but not on a dating site. We met on a chat program and we just chatted online for a few days then we talked on the phone for hours on end and both said we had been on numerous dates before we ever met in person. We got to know each other on the phone to know that we wanted to meet in person. There was really no stress doing it that way as we were both in the comfort of our homes laying around in track pants if we wanted to be and just yapping away. It's amazing how much you end up talking to the right person. Some nights we would be on the phone for 6 hours and it seemed like less than 30 minutes. It's not much wonder we ended up hitting it off really well in person after all our phone dates. I have never done online dating but my son does and he finds it draining but he also goes out and meets too fast as far as I am concerned. He starts chatting with someone and then they meet almost right after talking.
Thank you, I am thinking I need a break from it for a bit anyways, just to clear my head, then we will see. I like your story of how you met and it is nice it worked out but what if you met in person after all that effort and just we're not attracted? otr the person was lying about themselves? What I see now on dating sites is that it is 90% about looks only, and it's really sad.

Am sure that everyone has access to send pics or even a short video so you know they are who they say they are. You could FaceTime or Skype to see they are who they say they are. Attraction is more than just physical to me and I knew I was attracted to mine by our conversations. I think I fell in love before we even met in person. We didn't live in the same city so we had to actually plan more than had we been able to meet up in 30 minutes.
