Vitamin D (25-Hydroxy) Test - pre-op - cost?

This is one of the tests required for TWH and it's not covered by OHIP. Anyone have any idea on how much it costs?

I'm thinking it was $70? Maybe less? I can't find my receipt atm but for some reason that amount is sticking  in my head

mine was covered - your Dr has to indicate on the form that you meet OHIP eligibility requirements (This instruction is on the Orange Form that shows all the tests you have to go for)

Lovely. I gave him that form but I guess he didn't read it. I'm out $36.00.

It isn't covered pre-op. Your doctor will have to check the box on the lab requisition post-op. The requirement for coverage is malabsorption, which happens after surgery.

I didn't have to pay either. As said above when registered in the bariatric program your Dr can get it paid for through OHIP

Actually I was wrong about it not being covered pre-surgerry. I assumed because one of the indications for coverage is malabsorption that it wouldn't be covered. See the link and maybe show it to your doctor. The document specifically mentions surgery and that IT IS covered pre-surgery.
