RNY  7 Years 1 month post op

Morning

Had a great eating day yesterday until I didn't.   Ughh.  I save a pain pill for an hour before bed but it causes me severe gastric pain if taken on an empty stomach  ( or pouch !)

I need to find something else that does the trick rather then toast and 2% milk.  It has to have some fat in it or it won't help with the twisting innards.   Every day I say I'm not going to take a pill.  Every night I break down and take one.  Yogurt only helps briefly.   I would love to take the pill with my dinner as I eat enough to calm things,  but it really makes me sleepy within 45 minutes or so.

Just *****ing.

EATS  ( hopefully )

B .  2 eggs and I egg white scrambled

L -  on the run.  Another moving project ( my office)  so figuring a quest bar in the car.

D -  chicken souvlaki with 2 tb of tzatziki

     Asparagus

S -  source lemon yogurt

Something else.  This isn't enough food for me.

I hate being disorganized but I have been for 3 weeks now.  The scale is showing it.

Have a great one

I feel your pain/struggle when menu/life is not organized. I love my structured menu/life.

With regards to your pain pill and needing something that has fat in it (does it matter the type of fat?), I was having trouble getting in enough good fats and the dietitian gave me some suggestions that may help for you. Hemp hearts (2 tbsp mixed in Greek yogurt)...omegas plus protein and complex carbs packed in to this wonderful plant. Fish oil capsule which surprisingly also helped with constipation. Perhaps a 1/4 cup of Greek yogurt that is higher than 2% could help...and would be a decadent treat as well.

Maybe a quick call to the dietitian at your centre to discuss snack option before bed with pain pill would help...I don't want my suggestions from the dietitian I met with to mess up anything with your requirements.

Good luck!

Tammy :)

Never tried hemp hearts.  I could eat yogurt but 1/2 cup sure wouldn't do it.  Needs to be bulky and with fat.  Sometimes I have peanut butter and crackers. .

I am just venting

Hard choice. Pain or food. I would opt for the pill s well. I am not sleeping well lately. This morning it is showing. I can not think how to spell the simplest words. Even auto correct can't figure out what I am spelling. So ***** away

I will use something tonight to sleep. I have not been using my cpap machine so may try that as well.

swimming today. I woke up with hardly being able to walk. I will see if I am up to walking to the pool. The swimming may actually help.

Threw some chicken in a small crock pot with salsa for dinner. Just me and hate to cook when I get home

b greek yogurt, blueberries

s banana

l Moroccan chicken stew, activia

s 2 baby bel

d chicken with salsa, cheese, salad

s sf pudding or laughing cow.(put both in totals

Didn't you just have an infusion?   Maybe I am misunderstanding.   Is pain keeping you awake?

The infusion is only helping a little. It is great during the day but I think the pressure on my hip when I lie down is causing it to ache. That and I manager to screw up my knee somehow. It is better for walking on it but still painful

Sorry to hear all of this Pat.   I can only sleep on my back due to both hips and pain.  That's why I bought the adjustable bed.  It's helping nightly wakefulness.

Hope you get it figured out,  at least for awhile eh.

Sorry to hear you are struggling Barb. What about Melba toast with peanut butter on it?  Not as dense as toast.

I use triscuits sometimes with PB.  Melba is a good idea.  Thanks Monica

Morning all. Nice day out there already. Sorry for your struggles Barb, hope you find a happy medium soon. As far as the snack goes, have you tried peanut/almond butter, or even a hard boiled egg to help with the bedtime eats. I usually have 1/2 a tbsp of pb just before bed and it usually does the trick. Or try so regular cheese, a lot of fat in that.

Well i was supposed to be at home today, but my boss asked if  can come in for a few hours to help as she has some appointments to go to. Just sent her a text to confirm if she still needs me. Will go for Zumba at noon, then come home make dinner, then walk to work if i still have time.

B - coffee 5%, 2 slices turkey, 1oz cheese (couldn't eat this yesterday as i was full and had a shake to get the numbers in)

S - 1/2 up tuna

L - 2 boiled eggs, 1/4 cup cucumbers

S - protein shake made with bulk barn powder

D - 2 oz smoked ribs, 1/4 cup coleslaw, 1/4 cup rice

S - 1/2 quest pumpkin

Calories: 824, 28 carbs, 41 fats, 95 protein (if i manage to eat it all)

Have a great day all, Nia
