SURGERY MAY 19 2016 !!!
I can totally relate and I'm 8 days (not including today) away from surgery.
I go between excited (which I try to focus on) to scared and nervous to the point of questioning whether I'm making the right decision. I'm finding myself nesting and trying to prep everything including preparing for the worst :(
When I start thinking that way I try to change my thoughts back to being positive. I think this is normal. I'll be happy when I wake up from surgery alive and with new guts - my fear isn't about the change in my relationship with food as I sort of have a love/hate relationship with food and want to have a healthy one instead.
Rather I fear the complications and worst case scenarios - right now I'm obese but otherwise healthy as I have no co-morbids which is playing on my mind too and making me afraid I know I have to do this and everything will be fine but it's just the way our minds work I guess
When is your surgery and where?

im getting nervous, I'm sad I let myself get this far with my weight- I've gained almost 100 lb in 3 yrs, I just stopped caring and relaxed to the fact I was fat and had to try to make the most of it. I feel slightly embarrassed that I'm so big I have to have surgery to control my weight. I only seem to hold onto excitement for a short time then the other feelings take over.

Yep, that's normal. This is a big change in your life. And big changes cause a lot of emotion. All big changes do, it's because you are at a door, and you don't know what's on the other side. No matter what anyone tells you, it's still a mystery for what it will be like for you. We have all been through the same thing, but each experience is unique. Once you've had surgery, you'll wonder why you were so emotional about this.
Just remember one thing, you have the easy job in this surgery. You get on the table and sleep. It's the expert medical staff around you that need to do the hard work. You may be doing this for your first time, but they have done hundreds of these surgeries, and know what they are doing.
May you enjoy your nap!
Cathy

Get used to being an emotional basket case. It will last for a while yet. So NORMAL to have all these emotions floating around.
Try to change your focus to the positive side of things. How you are taking a stand in your life, and putting your health first. All the other great things that come along with it are just a bonus. Looking good, feeling good, new clothes, gained confidence and a new outlook for the years ahead you can face happy and healthy.

Hey hey all went well this morning. Done before you know it. Your emotional ups and downs were like mine.just stay focused. The pain is real minimal. I had chest issues right when I woke but the slowly faded with deep breathing and burps haha. Goodluck again don't stress the whole anticipation of this was a little much for me. Thanks for your support.
