OMG, seriously?! That's such good news!! It will be wonderful to be rid of the pain and the GERD.  Were you taking anything for the GERD prior to the surgery.  I was imagining the GERD might not go away so great to hear their is hope. My GERD started with my first pregnancy just around the time I started to gain a lot of weight.  Or maybe I had it before and never noticed.  It seemed the bigger I got the worst it got but could be age related.  I've been taking Prevacid for so long and I can't wait to be off those too.

Your post makes me feel even more confident about the decision.  Hearing you say my life is changing makes me feel less nervous about the surgery and the outcome.  I can't wait to live again.

My little avatar makes me feel happy glad you like her :)

For 25 years I have been increasing my medication for GERD. Last 10 years went through cases of TUMS and changing prescriptions every couple of months (I think I know them all). You will be on Prevacid for something like 6 months after surgery. I actually only took Prevacid for 4 months after surgery and surgeon gave me OK to stop. The six months is a standard and different for everybody. Its a precaution and good to follow precautions as much as you can after surgery.

I will for sure.  I've heard that there is a risk of esophageal cancer if GERD is left untreated...so ya I'll want to be certain it's gone.
