Q about Opti
I have met two dietitians at BMI and they were both wonderful. Follow their suggestions and guidelines as accurately as possible and as quickly as possible so that you can get the best results! I've already lost 5lbs just by following what they have said. :) By the time I do Opti I will be feeling pretty golden going into surgery!
Good luck and let me know how your appointments go!

I think my odds of trying it first are going to be pretty slim. I love vanilla and chocolate so I will probably just get a mix and then add other things to them if I don't like them or to change it up a bit.
I was just looking at your timeline and ticker...wow! I'm starting at around the same weight but they told me to expect to get down to around 190lbs. I figured I was pushing it by aiming for 180lbs but now I see that it would be possible to get down to 170lbs or 160lbs which I would LOVE! Just wanted to say that is very inspiring!!!

Thank you! I'm 5'7 if that helps give you a sense of my frame.
I continue to slowly lose (about 5lbs per month) by sticking to a protien-forward, low sugar diet. I try to stay around 1000 calories a day and track with My Fitness Pal. This site is great for staying on track too! Don't leave us after your surgery, we see that far too often on these boards.
All the best!
I'm 5'5" so it is very helpful to see your progress. I now know that my goals are not unattainable! If I can, I'd love to hit 160lbs. But, if I hit a weight I'm comfortable with and decide I'd rather not go that low, that's great too! I don't have a specific weight because all that will matter is how I feel.
its very helpful to know the kind of progress you continue to make and what your method is. Protein rich and low sugar will be key for me too. It's helpful to know your calorie intake, it helps put things in perspective.
I plan on sticking around post-surgery. It's great to have a support group of those who have been through it!

Hey I already did optifast for a month and than my surgery got canceled. I am now in my second week again doing it for a month. Surgery is on may 16th. Few tips from experience try it without adding anything. I did a full month strictly optifast vegetables and lots of water. Both are not that bad but tolerable colder the water the better. You will get used to it. You will loose a lot of weight I personally lost 37 pounds In that month. Keep it to every 4 hours with plenty of water afterwards. I used benefiber once a day or every other day. Keep occupied. Goodluck keep your head up. Once your in the routine it should be a breeze lol.
i used benefiber in each optifast shake . there is no fiber in optifast and benefiber will help with either diarrhea or constipation. I loved the vanilla the most and added instant decaf coffee into mine and 500 ml of water. Tasted just like an ice cap, (still like to make my protein shakes this way) I would start with once or twice a day with benefiber in your optifast and if you feel like you're getting constipated use in all your shakes.
I'm almost 2 weeks done of Opti, start my 3rd week Friday (9 days from surgery). I bought all vanilla - and a the one that suggest you buy a bit of chocolate because I personally wish I had.
I bought the DaVinci Sugar Free syrups. I have... Cherry, Raspberry, Chai Tea, Cookie Dough, Chocolate, and SF Starbucks vanilla.
I mix my Opti with only 250mls of water, 5 flavour shots, and 11 ice cubes. I haven't used any Metamucil, but may start because BMs are 2-3 days apart (not that I feel like I need to go. They are tiny when they do come).
A couple times out of necessity I have had an Opti blended with a grande ice coffee with 3 pumps of sugar free cinnamon dolce - and both times it was delicious.
I bough a $17 blender a Walmart that I keep in my office. I go to Tim's at lunch and order an apple juice (which I give to my kids at dinner time!) and a large cup "filled with ice". I take the ice to my office and blend away! (I put my sf syrup in a little Tupperware container each morning.)
I have my shakes at 8am, 1pm, 6pm, and 11pm. At 11pm I also have my broth.
I have lost 17.5lbs since the 15th of April, when I started the Opti.

Hi Larosa, I have begun the process in Ottawa, I wish you well!
I have previously done the Core/Lifestyle program with optifast and found that one Metamucil per shake was what worked for me. How our bodies react to the increased fluid is individual though. Many in my group used the two per shake.
Like others I enjoyed decaf coffee with both the vanilla and chocolate shakes and the syrups available.
I also enjoyed making my shakes with brewed tea - decaf Stash Chai and Yogi Ginger in both the vanilla and chocolate shakes; as well as Stash Meyer Lemon and Celestial Seasonings Mandarin Orange Spice in the vanilla. Try any favourite tea.
I also made a slurry of water and pumpkin pie spice and added it to the shake water, yummy. And also a slurry of just cinnamon. Yummy.
I also liked my shakes a little thinner so used 600ml of fluid.
All the best with your opti!
