Q about Opti
In my booklet it says to take 2 Metamucil with every shake. Do they really mean to take 8 Metamucil per day?! That sounds like a lot.
Should I buy only vanilla? Or one chocolate?
what kind of stuff can we add to it to make it tasty? I think I saw someone mention a sugar free chocolate syrup to add or some decaf coffee? I've been off of coffee for a couple of months already because even decaf contains some caffeine. Can we have decaf? Also, can we sweeten the shakes/coffee with a no cal sweetner/substitute?
Trying to prepare myself for the opti which I start on May 13th.

Hi there, you can buy a mixture of both. I bought half vanilla and half chocolate, you can add sugar-free syrups and decaf coffee ... my suggestion is don't buy too many sugar-free syrups as you may not like the taste, etc.. I bought some flavourings but in the end never used them, I was ok with the taste and for my last Opti of the day, I always had chocolate with a little less water to make it like a pudding, just to change things up.
As for the Metamucil, I'm not sure as every hospital is different. All the best and you will get through the Opti phase and soon you'll be on the loser's bench ... there's lots of room here

To create a ticker just go to the upper righter where your name is and you will see a little icon that looks like a 'mountain' click on that and then you will see just down from the top of the page a 'manage tickers' button click on that and you can chose what you'd like ... at least that's how I remember it ...

I went through the Ottawa clinic and they were very pro Metamucil. I was reluctant to take it as I didn't get constipated on the opti but went the other way...and the Metamucil helped with that too.
Instant decaf in either flavour opti is good...and I liked adding Starbucks SF cinnamon dolce syrup to the vanilla along with the decaf. Be sure to use at least 500ml of water and lots of ice. You'll be enjoying iced lattes and iced mochas 4 times a day. :)
Good luck!
Tammy :)

Holy Smokes! I've lost 100 pounds from my heaviest weight! Yay me!!!
You just made my day! I'm now looking forward to the Opti. I can definitely handle enjoying iced lattes and mochas all day and losing weight at the same time! lol
As for the metamucil, I know constipation won't be my issue, I will be like you are. I know my body well! Did you take 2 with every shake to help with the digestion or just a couple per day?
THANKS!

Also, you said to add 500ml of water with the shakes. When you used decaf coffee, did you use 250ml coffee and 250ml water? Or did you just dissolve the coffee into your 500ml water, let it cool and then add the Opti? I may be getting too technical here, but my brain is very mathematical at times so I do best when I'm an organized thinker! Haha!
