Second App for RNY today!
Hey everyone
Still new at this. I am getting used to this site. If I post something in the wrong spot sorry
I just had a great appointment at TWH with the social worker for my second appointment for the process of RNY and I am feeling very positive and optimistic. She was very nice and helpful. She was pleased that I had all my paperwork and blood work reports completed. She explained that because of where I am weight wise I will require 3 weeks Optifast diet before surgery. I go for my 3rd appointment May 10th. That's roughly 2 weeks from now. I believe this one is to meet with the psychologist. I feel like things are starting to finally move along and that helps to keep me motivated. I am a bit nervous for my next appointment. I guess it's because I am not sure what to expect for this one. Any tips for my 3rd appointment?
I have been making a few positive changes the last 2-3 weeks. Going to bed earlier to avoid late night snacking, 20 minute walks in the evening since the weather has finally started to improve and trying to stick to a routine of times that I eat. I still have much progress to make but every little change helps I guess. I did go through a period of food funerals which made me gain a few more pounds in the last couple of months but since trying these changes lately I feel I am getting back on track. The social worker suggested finding new hobbies to keep myself busy. I am currently not working so I will definitely need to find something to occupy my time. Sorry this is long.
Hope you are all doing well.
Anyone else in the Scarborough area having surgery at TWH?
Have a great day!
Mel
The appts are stressful. I remember being in a panic that I could be rejected, but as it turned out ...they were quite painless.
Good for you making some changes now. Every little bit really does help towards the big picture!!
I know that the "food funeral" thing is hard to avoid...I was guilty of it myself!! Try to keep in mind..no one is dying or being shipped off to solitary, those foods will always be around and you WILL see and likely eat them again (although it may be a while, and waaay smaller than you are used to).
Good luck with finding some new hobbies. I am an artist, so all things creative help to occupy my mind and keep me busy ( its been VERY helpful)
You might want to try an adult colouring book.....they are a big hit for many of us here !! !!!!!

Thanks Mona. Thanks for the suggestions and support :)
I did feel anxiety today but feeling better now. I am worried about being rejected too. If that happens I fear I will become very depressed.
I love the adult colouring book idea. Ty! I bought a couple of the books from Walmart but I haven't dived into them yet. I really like crafts and arts too. I enjoy scrap booking but it can be costly sometimes.

Hey...
I just did my psychologist appointment a week ago a TWH. It's really not that serious. They do ask a lot of questions. But it's all common sense and very simple you just got to be very honest.
I have one more appointment and I will see if I'm approved. Very excited yet very nervous. I don't live in Scarborough I live in mississauga. As long as you stay positive everything should be awesome.
Awesome that you made great steps to a great lifestyle change. I happy 4 u I'm still working on it myself by prep my meals and making smoothies and 3 meals n 3 snacks.
Walking is a great way to excerise. Good luck I'm sure u will be great. Can't wait to get my last appointment over with ?
