BMI 39.8
I think you're going through Windsor, right?
I am going to tell you not to worry about it. My BMI was 38. something....I have high BP, that's it. Otherwise healthy. Well a fatty liver, but I think every obese person has that.
I worried the whole time that at some point they would say "you don't qualify". Driving to all those appts 2 hours away, just hoping I wasn't wasting my time.
The day I met the surgeon, he recalculated my BMI in the area of 35 something because I had lost about 20 lbs. He said, your BMI is low, scared the crap out of me thinking he would say I don't qualify, so of course I pipe up "but when I started it was 38...." (still on the low side I know) he asked about my comorbidities, I told him high blood pressure and fatty liver.....six weeks later, surgery at TWH. The Windsor clinic told me not to bother with a referral to Guelph because they would turn me down, they are very strict about the rules.
Just keep on going through the process. What the Dr. told me in Windsor was that she believed I needed to be in the program, but ultimately the surgeon has final say. They have to warn you that you may not be a candidate because honestly it isn't their decision.
It worked out for me, you just have to believe that it will work out for you too! I do!
Today, I'm 2 weeks out from surgery and down 45 lbs from my referral weight. 27 lbs since I started the Opti four weeks ago!

thank you! I am going through Windsor right now. it's only .2 so I know it's not a huge deal, I meet with doctor soon and then I'll know! thank god!! I cried when she told me I may not be able to get surgery lol so many emotions. but with my issue I could go blind and if no weight loss surgery I'll be forced to have a shunt which could result in many revisions for that. so I'm hoping it will be enough for them to consider. I'm happy my appointments are so soon though so I'm not stressing out for months.
