OMG! I switched to gluten free in december after my Colonos

copy/Endoscop,  after endocrinologist  suggested it and ive put on 10 pounds. How? Why?  I'm eating the same stuff, just without gluten. Dietician says I wont lose any weight until im on thyroid pills. My doctor wont do it till my level is a 10, im at a 7. So I'm to continue to put on more weight? My body frame cant handle anymore weight. Im 5'2 and just over 250lbs. My hips, knees and back are killing me now. I ache all day and night. On tylenol 2s and 3s to kill the pain.Doctor prescribes pain killers so readily but not thyroid pills?  How will I make it to my surgery date. I see glazer may 31st, but who knows how long after that I could get surgery. I wish I didnt reschedule him from March, should of just kept my appointment. But my carpol surgeries are may and july. Need some words of patience or encouragement or just your experience. I'm so tired.

My suggestion would be to forget the gluten free products and go fairly low carb with protein and non-starchy veg (broccoli, green beans, asparagus, peppers, mushrooms)  Just  because something is gluten free doesn't mean that it won't pack on weight, and it could actually be higher in carbs than the stuff with gluten.  Hope this helps.

Some gluten free products are higher in fat, sugar and sodium. This might be a reason.

Try seeing a naturopath. I had an issue with my thyroid too but my doctor said it was borderline and did not proscribe anything.  The naturopath suggested something and it seemed to help. I don't remember what it was called.

You may also want to increase your activity.  Swimming would be good since you are in pain.
