Hey everyone!

I've read the paper's that hospital has given me post-op and at my 1 month follow up.

I was wondering what the average seemed to be, before people re-introduced salads back into their body?

Crazy enough, all I am craving is a salad.

Thanks :)

My centre recommended three months post-op for raw veggies. I had and still sometimes do have a hard time digesting lettuce and mixed greens. I have gotten that stuck a few times and it was quite painful. I wasn't in a big rush to eat salad either as I'm not a big fan. If in doubt check with your dietitian :)

Hi there, I remember the nutritionist saying not to have salads until at least 3 months post-op because it's hard enough getting your proteins in and you might be filling up your pouch with salad when you really need to keep your proteins up ... hope that makes sense.  I have just started to introduce a little bit of salad into my diet and I'm 4 months post-op.  All the best. I am speaking from only my own experience and you should follow what you are told by your centre.

I did not follow my centre's guidelines on this.  I craved salad too. Specifically Cesar salad. I introduced a little romaine lettuce (in a wrap with chicken) at 5 weeks from surgery. At 6 weeks I ate a full on salad at a restaurant. It had romaine lettuce, red and yellow peppers, onions, parsley and probably a few other things. As always, I ate my protein first and chewed everything very well and took small bites. I am in week 7 as of today. I have been introducing new foods almost daily. For everything I eat i must take very small bites and chew really well. It takes me about an hour to eat dinner. I have had some nausea  but I have had no dumping or bad pain. The worst reactions I have had has been pain from too much too fast, even eating broth too fast. I use a herbal salve on my stomach for any pain including gas pain and if I eat too fast or take bites that are too bad and food get stuck. If I feel nauseous I drink ginger tea. (all ginger not green/black tea with ginger and not from a tea bag).

Again this is only my experience and likely will be different for you.
