Hypotension after surgery?

Just seeing if anyone had any issues with low blood pressure after surgery? I never had high or low blood pressure before surgery however I am having some dizzy spells when going from sitting to standing and they are getting a bit more common with blurry vision and they last a few seconds but it is enough that it affects my equilibrium a bit.  I have a call into my centre I am just seeing if this is common to have happen after surgery?  I am working out everyday and until I hear back from Nurse I am going to increase my electrolytes to see if this will help since I am working out very hard at the gym and increase my water intake.  Thanks for any suggestions or comments

I had issues with low bp for the first couple of years. Especially when standing too quickly. Was lucky to get bp over 90. Make sure you are well hydrated. Change position slowly. When sitting up from lying sit on side of bed for a minute. Invest in a bp machine. Check your bp sitting then stand up and take again. Sounds like postural hypotension.

Yup. Had issues.  Even passed out a couple of times.  Learnt a small trick...when I feel dizzy, just bend over slightly at waist, and it passes quickly.  But if it doesn't pass quickly...sit down on the ground immediately...you don't want to pass out!!

Good luck!

Yes, I've also had issues with low BP. As already mentioned hydration is important. But my dietitian also encouraged me to increase my sodium intake. I added deli meat, crackers, pickles, and a few other foods to try and help. I still feel the effects if I don't drink enough water in a day. I check my BP regularly at the drug store and when I go for medical appointments.

I always had high blood pressure now it tends to be low. Standing can be a problem. This type of blood pressure has a name which I forget. Just be careful. It is really bad if I have been sitting with my feet up. I usually will lower my legs then get up
